- Indications:
- Lip tie: A tight labial frenulum can restrict lip movement and interfere with breastfeeding or speaking.
- Gummy smile: A prominent frenulum can cause a gummy smile when the person smiles.
- Orthodontic treatment: A frenectomy may be necessary to improve the alignment of teeth and prevent the frenulum from pulling on the teeth during orthodontic treatment.
