Phase I vs Phase II Orthodontic Treatment summary

Phase I (Early Interceptive Treatment):

Performed on younger children (ages 6-10).

Addresses specific issues early, like severe crowding or jaw discrepancies, to guide jaw growth and make Phase II more effective.

Phase II:

Finalizes alignment and bite correction after the foundation is set in phase I.

Who Needs Phase I or Phase II, or both?

Not all patients who have phase I require phase II.

It’s often recommended for:

Severe malocclusions.

Persistent misalignment not fully resolved in Phase I.

Cases needing full correction of both jaw function and tooth alignment.

All orthodontic treatments are customized to the patient.  Schedule your orthodontic evaluation today to help determine the need for Phase I or Phase II treatment based on the individual’s growth, dental development, and Phase I outcomes if they have already had orthodontic treatment.
